In the short term, Ukrhydroenergo plans to restore 1 GW of capacity for the normal passage of the autumn-winter season. The press service of the company reported this on Wednesday, June 19.
“Long-term plans include the construction of 2,500 MW of new capacity (completion of the Dniester pumped storage power plant and the construction of the Kanevskaya pumped storage power plant – ed. In addition, the main project is the restoration of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station,” said the message.
The company is also intensifying cooperation with international partners to quickly restore the energy infrastructure, and is also conserving water resources to help it through difficult months for the energy system.
Ukrhydroenergo recalled that about 45% of the capacity was destroyed by Russia.
In total, since the beginning of the entire invasion of the Russian Federation, 118 missile strikes have been carried out on Ukrhydroenergo stations.
Let us recall that on June 6, 2023, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, which caused widespread flooding in the territories of the Kherson region and caused great environmental, economic and humanitarian damage to Ukraine.
