The hryvnia fell against the dollar at exchange offices on the last working day of the week. The American currency passed an important psychological milestone, reports RBC-Ukraine, citing market monitoring data on Friday, June 14.
The average dollar selling rate in Ukraine increased by 15 kopecks to 41.10 Hryvnia, and the euro exchange rate increased by 5 kopecks to 44.50 Hryvnia.
Today, exchange offices buy dollars for an average of 40.60 UAH, and euros for 43.70 UAH.
In the interbank market, the American currency is at the level of 40.78-40.80 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) – an increase of 2 kopecks compared to the previous day’s close.
Yesterday, the National Bank increased the dollar to Hryvnia exchange rate to a historical maximum – UAH 40.6908 (+0.2467 UAH). The official euro exchange rate is 43.885 UAH (+0.3530 UAH).
Earlier, the National Bank explained the reasons for the sharp increase in the dollar exchange rate in May. According to the regulator, demand for foreign currency jumped 41% last month.
And yesterday it became known that the NBU lowered the discount rate for the third time in a row. Such a step will contribute to a further revival of lending, which is important for economic recovery, assured the regulator.
