Ukraine has plans to build up to 1 gigawatt of shunting gas generation capacity this year and another 4 gigawatts in the following years.
Ukraine, with the help of partners, intends to build up to 1 gigawatt of gas-fired flexible generation by 2024 and another 4 gigawatts in the coming years. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Recovery Conference in Berlin on Tuesday, June 11.
According to the head of state, one of the elements for the normal functioning of the energy sector of Ukraine is high, efficient, decentralized, resourceful gas generation, which can solve the issue of energy shortages today, and tomorrow transfer to water and balance the new “green” energy.
“In this industry, European and, in particular, German companies are technological leaders in this industry, we have a clear plan on how to build up to 1 gigawatt capacity this year,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, the president emphasized that “we need to talk not only about the future, we need to solve the problems of today.”
“Now there is a war Now (up to 1 gigawatt of power needs to be built – ed.) and another 4 gigawatt in the coming years,” said Zelensky.
We remind you that Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said that in Ukraine only 27% of large thermal power plants remain in operation, and the rest were damaged or destroyed as a result of shelling by the enemy.
