Ukraine and the IMF agreed on the fourth revision of the financing program in the amount of $15.6 billion.
Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund at the expert level agreed on the fourth revision of the four-year cooperation program, which paves the way for the allocation of the fifth loan tranche in the amount of $2.2 billion. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal announced this on Telegram on Friday, May 31.
“Ukraine and the IMF at the expert level agreed on the fourth revision of the Extended Financing Facility (EFF) program in the amount of $15.6 billion,” the head of government wrote.
Shmigal noted that previously Ukraine did not reach the fourth revision in any IMF program. Today’s agreements “are evidence of our commitment to reform and change for our country.”
“Ukraine has fulfilled all quantitative criteria and structural beacons before the fourth review. After the approval of the IMF Executive Board, which will take place in the coming weeks, Ukraine will receive $2.2 billion,” the prime minister said.
Shmigal emphasized that the funds of the partners help the government to finance all the main budget expenses in full and direct our internal resources to the defense of Ukraine.
Let’s recall that Ukraine received the first tranche in the amount of $2.7 billion from the IMF immediately after the approval of the program totaling $15.6 billion in early April 2023.
The second tranche amounts to $890 million (June 2023), the third tranche – $900 million (December 2023), the fourth tranche – $880 million (March 2024).
