The Cabinet of Ministers has authorized the export of more than 1 million tons of coal this year. This was announced by the permanent representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk on Telegram on Thursday, May 30.
“The quota of 0 tons for the export of hard coal, anthracite, briquettes, and similar types of solid fuels obtained from hard coal has been replaced by a quota of 1,153 thousand tons;
Melnichuk noted that this decision was made to ensure the operation of state-owned coal mining enterprises and the sale of thermal coal.
Let’s recall that in June and September 2022, a ban on the export of coal from Ukraine was introduced. This is related to preparations for the heating season and combating the illegal export of coal, which can be used for burning in thermal power plants during the heating season.
And in April it became known that by 2024, coal production in Ukraine will exceed pre-war figures. Since the beginning of the year, volumes have increased by 24%.
