Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM team has started mass production of additional steel tank screens for protection against FPV drones. This was announced on Friday, May 24, by the press service of Metinvest, which is part of the group.
“Such screens were created specifically for the Soviet T-72, Ukrainian T-64 and American M1 Abrams. After a long and thorough procedure of testing and testing, steel screens began to be provided free of charge to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the Rinat Akhmetov Steel Front military initiative and “More than 25 additional protection systems have been transferred, of which seven are for M1 Abrams tanks,” the statement said.
The press service added that these protective screens are essentially Ukrainian products.
“All drawings of protective screens are made taking into account the specific design features of each type of tank, because additional structures must not only be protected against external threats, but also limit the functionality of the equipment itself, its operation in combat conditions is not complicated. , and does not interfere with the fighters The total weight of the structure screen is up to 430 kg,” the press service reported.
According to the operating director of the Metinvest group, Alexander Mironenko, representatives of his company, together with military engineers, examined the areas of military equipment typical for the destruction of FPV drones, vulnerabilities that need to be protected, and developed screen designs.
Currently, 10-12 specialists are simultaneously involved in the production of anti-drone screens, and the production and installation of the screen in one tank takes up to 12 hours of working time.
