“Amazon’s division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), intends to actively develop its data centers in the region of Aragon, made possible thanks to the support of local authorities,” the statement said.
Amazon experts estimate that the total contribution of AWS investments to Spain’s gross domestic product will reach €21.6 billion by 2033. It is expected that the expansion of the cloud infrastructure will create approximately 17.5 thousand new jobs .
This new investment significantly expands on the company’s previously announced plans announced in 2021. At that time, AWS announced its plans to invest 2.5 billion euros in the development of Spanish data centers.
