The Cabinet of Ministers has registered a bill in the Verkhovna Rada that provides a significant increase in excise taxes on fuel. This was announced by the government’s representative in parliament, Taras Melnichuk, on Telegram on Monday, May 13.
According to him, a bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada On the amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine to bring the law of Ukraine closer to the law of the European Union in terms of excise tax.
In particular, the document proposes to establish the following excise tax rates:

gasoline – 359 euros per thousand liters;

diesel – 330 euros per thousand liters;
-
gas – 277 euros per thousand liters.
The bill also provides a schedule for annual increases in such rates from July 2024 to December 2027.
Currently, excise taxes are:

gasoline – 215.5 euros per thousand liters;

diesel – 139.5 euros per thousand liters;
-
gas – 70 euros per thousand liters.
We remind you that the government has proposed a gradual increase in the excise tax on fuel until 2028. Excise tax rates will be closer to the minimum level established in the EU.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers proposes to increase excise tax rates on tobacco products from July 2024.
