The Russian attackers are again striking the power units of the DTEK thermal power plants, returning the power plants to work after the initial large-scale attacks. This was stated by DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk in a commentary on Radio Liberty.
“We returned some units after the first, after the second, after the third attack. They returned to work and were in operation during the new attacks,” he said.
In total, 8 GW of Ukrainian energy system capacity was damaged. This is about 40% of all existing generations, added Sakharuk.
Due to the scale of the damage, it is no longer possible to go through periods of peak load in the energy system without restrictions on the power supply.
We remind you that on May 10, Ukrenergo doubled the duration of electricity restrictions for industry. Electricity supply limitation schedules for industry are valid from 18:00 to 7:00 am (13 hours).
The Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate 7.2 billion Hryvnias for the restoration of the energy system.
