Since the beginning of the year, the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar has fallen by 5.8%, which corresponds to the planned indicators included in the state budget of Ukraine. This was said by the head of the finance committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Daniil Getmantsev, in Telegram on Thursday, May 9.
“We have a moderate rate of devaluation of the hryvnia in the first four months of 5.8%. ),” he wrote Him.

Getmantsev recalled that the NBU does not predict the exchange rate and does not target its target value. “However, I cannot help but note that we finally have more unity on this issue between fiscal and monetary policy,” added the head of the committee.
According to the representative of the people, who was assured of external financing until the end of 2024, the significant amount of international reserves, the continuation of a relatively strict monetary policy and the consistent policy of the NBU on liberalization of money, the situation in the foreign exchange market in the short term will be controlled.
For January-April 2024, the average official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar is 38.47 UAH/dollar. The official exchange rate on April 30, 2024 is 39.67 UAH/dollar.
According to the average monthly official exchange rate, the hryvnia has depreciated:

for April 2024 – by 1.8% (until March 2024)

for four months from the beginning of the year – by 5.8% (until December 2023)

in the period after the transition to managed flexibility – by 7.1% (at a fixed rate of 36.57 UAH/dollar).
Remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers in the budget for 2024 set the average exchange rate at 40.7 UAH/dollar by the end of 2024, the value is expected to be 42.1 UAH/dollar;
Earlier, the NBU said that the continuation of international aid to Ukraine led to an increase in budget expenditures in March, which caused an increase in the dollar’s exchange rate.
