Last year, on average, pyrotechnicians inspected 22.8 thousand hectares of farmland per month, and from the beginning of this year, the monthly average is 28.75 thousand hectares.
Since the beginning of 2024, more than 115 thousand hectares of agricultural land have been assessed in Ukraine, 108 thousand hectares of which have been returned to economic use. The press service of the Ministry of Economy reported this on Wednesday, May 8.
As reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko, in April alone, pyrotechnic units examined almost 35 thousand hectares of agricultural land.
In general, the speed of the current survey of rural lands exceeded last year: last year, on average, pyrotechnics surveyed 22.8 thousand hectares of farmland per month, and since the beginning of this year, the monthly average is 28.75 thousand hectares.
Sviridenko added that the increase in the pace of humanitarian demining is the result of the development of domestic production of machinery and equipment for mine clearance, as well as the localization of foreign technologies in Ukraine.
He is convinced that the opening of the humanitarian demining market will also help speed up the clearance of agricultural land: this year, 3 billion UAH is allocated for compensation to farmers who will purchase demining services.
We remind you that international partners have allocated more than 700 million US dollars equivalent to Ukraine for humanitarian demining projects for 2022-2027. Major donors include USA, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Netherlands, Germany and others.
