This week, the National Bank of Ukraine reduced sales in the interbank foreign exchange market for the second time in a row. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Saturday, May 4.
In five working days, the NBU sold $508 million, which is slightly lower than last week’s figure – $532.35 million. Also, the regulator bought foreign currency for the first time in three weeks, although not in large volumes – $240,000.
In total, since the beginning of 2024, National Bank has sold $8.5 billion and bought nearly $105 million.
Remind us that in April, Ukrainians increased their purchases of foreign currency by a quarter. In total, since the beginning of this year, the population has bought more than $3.2 billion from banks. In turn, the NBU sold $2.283 billion. Sales were 27.7% higher than in March.
And the other day, the NBU announced the biggest easing of business since the beginning of the great war.
