A prerequisite for receiving support within the Ukraine Facility is compliance with effective democratic mechanisms, the European Commission said.
The European Union allocated the second part of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility program in the amount of 1.5 billion euros. The European Commission announced this on Wednesday, April 24.
It is indicated that a mandatory condition for receiving support within the Ukraine Facility is compliance with effective democratic mechanisms.
“The payment was made after the Commission received a positive assessment of the agreed policy terms related to judicial reforms, anti-money laundering, public financial management, business environment and agriculture, as well as those related to reporting of accounting requirements to ensure transparent and efficient use of funds,” the statement said.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that “Ukraine has a heavy burden for all of us.”
“The additional €1.5 billion we are providing today will help Ukraine continue to support the government and provide essential services to its people as they fight back against an aggressor,” he said.
Von der Leyen added that the EU will work closely with the Ukrainian authorities to ensure the implementation of Ukraine’s reform plan, which is expected to be approved without delay by the EU Council.
We remind you that on March 20, Ukraine received the first tranche from the EU in the amount of 4.5 billion euros within the Ukraine Facility.
Earlier, on February 1, EU leaders at a summit in Brussels agreed on a €50 billion support program for Ukraine called the Ukraine Facility. The program is designed for the period of 2024-2027.
It is assumed that the receipt of funds for the Ukraine Facility depends on the implementation of 100 quarterly indicators by Kiev.
