Products in the Easter basket in 2024 increased in price by 17.6% to UAH 1,422.05. This was reported by the press service of the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics.
“This year, traditional paska, eggs, homemade sausage, boiled pork, lard, butter, soft and hard cheeses, horseradish and salt cost about 1,422.05 UAH for a family of 4 people, that is, 17.6% more expensive than last year, when the same set of products cost UAH 1,208.78,” the message said.

The amount of the main part of the Easter basket – homemade paska according to a traditional recipe (700 g flour, 6 eggs, 150 g butter, 300 g milk, 400 g sugar, 40 g yeast, 200 g raisins) – will be 179.8 UAH. 1 kg, which is 5.8% more expensive than in the past.
The relatively small increase in the price of paska is due to a significant decrease in the price of eggs (almost 30%), sugar (-15%) and flour (-5%). However, other paska components increased in price: butter (+16.4%), milk (+13.6%), yeast (+9.6%), raisins (+15.6%).
In stores and supermarkets, ready-made paska costs more, because its price depends on the ingredients and finish of the baked goods.
The most expensive part of the Easter basket traditionally remains meat products: homemade sausage (0.5 kg) – 200 UAH (380-420 UAH per 1 kg), boiled pork (0.5 kg) – 250 UAH ( 500-540 UAH per 1 kg) . The cost of oil remained almost at the level of last year – (0.5 kg) – up to 110 UAH at the rate of 210-280 UAH per 1 kg.
Among dairy products, you have to pay more for hard cheese (0.5 kg) – 250 UAH (450-550 UAH per 1 kg), butter (0.5 kg) – 194.75 UAH (73.2-80.5 UAH per pack of 200 g), soft cottage cheese (0.5 kg), which costs 107.5 UAH (37-45 UAH per pack of 200 g).
Compared to 2023, the value of hard cheese increased by 31.9%, soft cheese by 23%, and butter by 16.4%.
The price of horseradish (250 g) will be 26 UAH (25-29 UAH) and depending on the manufacturer and seasoning ingredients (100-150 g) is also marked – 3 UAH.
If the Easter basket is filled with other non-main ingredients: tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, red wine (Cahors) – its cost will increase to 1652.05 UAH. This is 12.9% higher than last year’s basket value of the same composition.
For a bottle of Cahors church wine you have to pay an average of 150 UAH (100-180 UAH per bottle).
It was noted that the increase in the value of the Easter basket is clearly caused by the consequences of military operations – significant monetary and material losses in the economy and Ukrainian families, a reduction in production, an increase in energy prices, and internal movement complications. of products.
