The fifth power unit at Khmelnitsky NPP will be the first in Ukraine built using American AP1000 technology.
At the Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant, a project for the construction of power units No. 5 and No. 6 using American AP1000 technology from Westinghouse. It was reported by Energoatom on Monday, April 15.
The project is indicated to start on April 11th. In a special ceremony, the first cubic meter of concrete was laid for power unit No. 5. The event was attended by Energy Minister German Galushchenko, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, Chairman of the Board Energoatom Peter Kotin and Westinghouse Electric Company Executive Director Patrick Fragman.
Thus, the fifth power unit at the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant will be the first in Ukraine built using American AP1000 technology.
