One of the largest producers of dairy products in the world, Danone, has been officially represented in Belarus since 2009.

The French company Danone is liquidating its last subsidiary in Belarus, DanoneBel. Information about this appeared in the unified state register of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. The decision to liquidate is made by the owner.

The foreign limited liability company DanonBel is in the process of liquidation based on a decision dated March 13, 2024.

One of the largest producers of dairy products in the world, Danone, has been officially represented in Belarus since 2009. DanoneBel has carried out wholesale supplies of Danone products in the country. Previously, until 2022, the French manufacturer also owned two production sites in Belarus – Danone Pruzhany and Danone Shklov, which were part of other businesses.

Let’s recall that at the beginning of March 2022, due to the war in Ukraine, Danone announced the suspension of investment projects in Russia. In October 2022, Danone announced plans to exit its Russian business. Control of the dairy and plant products division is planned to be transferred to a new owner.

However, in 2023, Danone Russia was transferred to the temporary management of the Federal Property Management Agency. From July 18, 2023, the Deputy Head of the Government of Chechnya Yakub Zakriev, who is the nephew of the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov, was appointed General Director of Danone Russia.

In March of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree canceling this transfer. This is related to Danone’s possible plans to sell its business in Russia.
