It is indicated that this is an ancient temple from the times of Kievan Rus, built in 1144 by Prince Vsevolod Olgovich.
“It was established that the executive committee of the Kaniv City Council in 2003 gave permission to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) to register the ownership of the archaeological monument. Later, this became the basis for the registration of the right of the collective shared ownership,” the report said.
Prosecutors proved in court the illegality of moving the Assumption Cathedral building.
“After all, the law establishes a direct prohibition on the alienation of cultural heritage monuments belonging to the state,” the department said.
The court declared illegal and canceled the decision of the executive committee of the Kaniv City Council, the certificate of ownership of the building for the UOC (MP), and also canceled the state registration of the property right to an object of cultural heritage of national importance.
The estimated cost of the building of the Assumption Cathedral is more than 8.5 million hryvnias.
We remind you that in Transcarpathia, two priests of the UOC-MP will be tried for promoting communism. The rector of the temple and the priest of the monastery publicly disseminated banned communist symbols and Soviet slogans via the Internet.
