Thanks to the efforts of the miners, one of the longwalls was launched ahead of schedule, and in total, 6 new longwalls have been put into operation since the beginning of the year, the company reported.

DTEK Energy miners commissioned 4 coal faces in February 2024, the company’s press service reported on Wednesday, March 13.

It was noted that thanks to the hard work of the miners, one of the longwalls was launched ahead of schedule, and in total, 6 new longwalls have been put into operation since the beginning of the year.

According to Ildar Saleev, General Director of DTEK Energy, the new longwalls are a guarantee of reliable operation of thermal generation throughout the year.

“We got through this winter mainly thanks to the well-coordinated, early and intensive preparations of all parties involved – engine builders, miners and electrical engineers. We are already laying a reliable foundation for next winter “The new longwalls are a guarantee of stable coal production and, accordingly, reliable operation of thermal generation throughout the year, especially during consumption peaks and the upcoming heating season,” he said.

The company added that last year 26 new coal faces were put into operation, and investments in Ukrainian coal mining amounted to about UAH 7 billion (almost twice as much as in 2022).

It was previously reported that just at the beginning of the year, DTEK thermal power plants increased their electricity generation.
