In real terms, the average salary for 2023 remains 8.3% lower than before the full-scale war.
Last year, the average salary in the economy was UAH 17,442. Compared to 2022, the nominal average salary increased by 17.5% (+2,594 UAH). This was announced by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Daniil Getmantsev, on Telegram on Monday, March 4.
Economic sectors with high average monthly salaries in 2023:

information and telecommunications – 37,946 UAH;

financial and insurance activities – UAH 34,393;

aircraft – 31,391 UAH;

professional, scientific and technical activity – UAH 23,413;

public administration and defense; compulsory social insurance – 23,395 UAH.
Economic sectors with the lowest average monthly salary in 2023:

operation of libraries, archives, museums and other cultural institutions – UAH 10,990;
-
activities in the field of creativity, art and entertainment – 11,345 UAH;

postal and courier activities – 11,830 UAH;
-
temporary accommodation and catering – 12,300 UAH;
-
education – 12,439 UAH.
“In real terms (taking into account inflation – ed..) the average salary for 2023 remains 8.3% lower than before the full-scale war in 2021,” – Getmantsev mentioned.
In dollar terms (at the official average rate), the average salary is 7.1% lower ($514 and $477, respectively, in 2021 and 2023).
According to the representative of the people, the wage gap between economic sectors remains large and increased during the widespread war. Today it is 3.5 times – between IT and activities in the field of libraries, archives, and museums. Before the war – 3.1 times.
We remind you that from January 1, the Cabinet of Ministers increased the salary for public sector employees, while the minimum wage increased.
