Trade unions are demanding higher wages for staff from Germany’s biggest air carrier.
The Verdi trade union, which deals with the rights of Lufthansa employees, has announced another strike. Reuters reported this on Tuesday, February 27.
It is indicated that the strike will last for three days. The carrier’s ground staff will take part in this. They plan to start the campaign on Wednesday, February 28.
According to the agency, Lufthansa executives tried to negotiate with the strikers, promising to postpone planned wage increases from December to March and to pay employees an “anti-inflationary” bonus of three thousand euros each.
“The union did not agree to these conditions, asking for an additional 12.5%or 500 euros for each employee monthly,” the statement said.
The union assured that the strike would cause little inconvenience to passengers.
“Germany’s financial regulator, the Bundesbank, believes that such strikes have contributed to a decline in the country’s GDP, leading to a recession,” Reuters added.
Lufthansa has previously canceled more than 563 flights from airports in Poland from October 29, 2023 to March 30, 2024. In particular, a large number of flights to Frankfurt am Main and Munich have been reduced.
In Odessa, on Thursday, February 22, an air transfer to Chisinau Airport in Moldova was launched in test mode.
