Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has authorized the extension of the ban on imports into Poland from Ukraine.
Poland may impose a ban on the import of new Ukrainian goods if the European Union does not offer any solution to the problem for Polish farmers. This is what Prime Minister Donald Tusk said, The Guardian reports.
“We are discussing the possibility of expanding the embargo to other products if the EU does not find a more effective way to protect the Polish and European markets,” said the head of the Polish government.
Last year, Poland unilaterally stopped importing Ukrainian grain.
Let us remind you that Polish farmers are protesting against the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, which affects prices on the domestic market. They want to extend the ban to other products, including fruit, eggs and meat.
Polish farmers have been blocking the Ukrainian border for weeks. They do not allow trucks to pass through the checkpoint, and also destroy Ukrainian agricultural products.
Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal proposed a five-step “Plan of Understanding” for Poland, designed to unblock the border.
