A new, but unofficial holiday is gaining popularity in Ukraine – Ukrainian Women’s Day. The date of its celebration could be the birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian poetess Lesya Ukrainka, so this event took place on February 25th. This outstanding woman made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and literary art. The figure of the poet personifies Ukrainian invincibility and the country’s historical desire to get rid of the imperial shackles on culture and public life.
“We celebrate the birthday of a wonderful, outstanding Ukrainian poet Lesya. We know a lot about him from textbooks and his poems, and it’s great that with the help of our partners you can learn more about him as a person– addressed the excursion participants Miroslava Zabrodskaya, Deputy Director of the Museum “Formation of the Ukrainian Nation”” – We are sincerely glad to see this meeting! She will give you the pleasure of learning, new creative perspectives, getting to know a unique Ukrainian woman, whose every word is full of wisdom and love, preserving and carrying over the centuries the cultural code of our country.“
Among the exhibits of the museum there is a wonderful figure of Lesya – interview participants took a photo with her. In memory of the excursion, the children received a book by modern Ukrainian author Natalka Maletich “Lesya. Mandrivny ball.” He dispels stereotypes about the outstanding poet, reveals unknown facts about the childhood and adult life of the real Lesya, which is much more multifaceted than her official portrait.

Trustees of the ONUKY Foundation received another opportunity to touch the living history of Ukraine and meet its extraordinary figure during a thematic interactive interview and general tour of the museum’s unique exhibitions.
COMINBANK, almost the same age as Ukrainian independence, started educational work in cooperation with the Museum “The Formation of the Ukrainian Nation” for the 30th anniversary of its activities. The bank’s British shareholder, Stefan Paul Pinter, came to Kyiv for the event in December 2023, sincerely admiring the resilience of Ukrainians and supporting COMINBANK’s charitable and educational projects.
