The Foreign Minister noted that the assets of the Russian Federation in the UK, Luxembourg and Switzerland would be enough to satisfy Ukraine.
Assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation have been frozen in various Western jurisdictions worth more than $300 billion. In particular, the assets in France will be enough to build a new hydroelectric power station instead of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric station destroyed by the invaders. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba wrote this in his column for Politico.

“Russian assets in France ($1.48 billion) are enough to build a new hydroelectric power station instead of the Ukrainian Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, which Russia destroyed last summer,” the official said.
According to him, the income from Russian assets held in the Belgian Euroclear depository for 2022 and the first half of 2023 amounted to $2.56 billion.
“With this money, it is possible to restore 1,223 medical institutions, including 384 hospitals and 352 outpatient centers, damaged or destroyed by Russia. All this can happen as soon as the political will appears – and the time for here it has come now,” stressed the minister.
He also listed where and how many Russian assets were frozen, namely:
-
in Germany ($6.5 billion),
-
in Austria ($1.8 billion),
-
in Ireland ($2 billion),
-
in Poland ($1.13 billion).
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that this amount is enough to help restore more than 3,500 damaged or destroyed educational institutions, including 1,700 schools, more than 1,000 kindergartens and 586 universities.

“Current Russian assets in the UK ($23 billion), Luxembourg ($6.8 billion) and Switzerland ($8.7 billion) will be enough to satisfy Ukraine,” Kuleba concluded.
As we have already written, twenty-five member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS) adopted a declaration on the second anniversary of the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
