The Polish Ministry of Agriculture is waiting for the results of the meeting with Ukrainian colleagues.
The Poles may introduce new restrictions on the import of Ukrainian products if they cannot reach an agreement with their Ukrainian colleagues. This was said by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak to Polsat New.
“The Polish government may introduce additional restrictions,” the official said.
He noted that today, February 21, negotiations between Minister Czeslaw Sekierski and his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solski should take place.
“Let’s see how the Ukrainians behave, what policy they will make regarding exports to Poland, if they want to have an agreement,” said Kolodziejczak.
A Polish official said “the ball is in Ukraine’s court” and the nature of the farmers’ protest shows the scale of discontent in the villages caused by poor agricultural policies in recent years.
“This is also an action that clearly shows what Ukraine is doing now. I say this clearly, I appeal to President Zelensky: focus on your policy, you also have problems in the country,” the politician said.
Let us remind you that on February 20, Polish farmers started a large-scale blockade of the Ukrainian border. By late afternoon, protesters eased border restrictions.
In response to the Poles’ actions, Ukrainian carriers began their border protest. Polish trucks will be allowed to enter Ukrainian territory with the delay in which Poles allow Ukrainians.
President Vladimir Zelensky criticized the blocking of Ukrainian border checkpoints by Polish farmers, calling for joint and reasonable solutions to this situation.
