Oleg Nikolenko emphasized that such actions will create additional threats not only to Ukraine, but also to Poland’s security.
Anti-Ukrainian actions in Poland, in addition to blocking the Polish-Ukrainian border, not only harm the Ukrainian economy, but also violate the principles of Ukrainian-Polish unity. This is what the Speaker of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko said on his Facebook page on Friday, February 16.
“The most recent examples are particularly radical demonstrations – the damage to Ukrainian grain at the border and yesterday’s demonstration of farmers in Wroclaw with anti-Ukrainian slogans… Ukrainians are paying with their lives so that the Polish and other European cities live in peace. This should not be forgotten or ignored,” – the official wrote.
According to him, any attempts to undermine Ukraine’s economy through radical or anti-market measures will only weaken the ability to deter Russian aggression and create additional threats to Poland’s security and well-being.
“The Ukrainian side has always advocated a constructive approach to solving issues related to the transfer of Ukrainian grains and trade. We hope that the Polish authorities will follow a similar approach, including in matters of effective prevention of illegal actions against Ukrainian cargo and appropriate response to rhetoric damaging bilateral relations,” Nikolenko emphasized.
Any attempts to shake the foundation of unity between Ukraine and Poland and their peoples will not be crowned with success.
As you know, on February 9, Polish farmers started a new nationwide strike. It will last until March 10. Five checkpoints were blocked the previous day.
We would like to add that the Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekierski asked on behalf of the farmers for forgiveness for the Ukrainian grain spilled from the trucks. At the same time, the Polish official said that the farmers are said to be “understandable,” and “the reaction of Ukraine is extreme.”
