Over the year, vegetables in Ukraine increased more in price – by 13.1%, as well as meat and meat products – by 10.2%.
Consumer price growth in Ukraine slowed to 0.4% in January after growing 0.7% in December and 0.5% in November. This is confirmed by the data of the State Statistics Service on Friday, February 9.
On an annual basis, inflation in January this year dropped to 4.7% from 5.1% in December. This is the lowest amount since November 2020, when annual inflation was 3.8%.
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 3.7% over the year. The price of vegetables increased the most – by 13.1%, meat and meat products – by 10.2%, and oil – by 10.2%. At the same time, eggs fell in price by 18.7%, and butter by 16.1%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 9.5%, while prices for clothing and shoes decreased by 6.7%.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel increased by 12.8%.
Household goods and household appliances increased by 0.3%, health care by 8.8%, transportation by 3.1% (including fuel prices decreased by 0.1%).
Prices for communication increased by 0.5%, for entertainment and culture decreased by 1.1%, education increased by 12.0%, restaurants and hotels increased in price by 12.2%, and various goods and services by 10.5%.
We remind you that by the end of 2023, inflation in Ukraine has slowed down to 5.1%. This is the lowest level since 2020, when consumer price growth was 5%.
It was also reported that the National Bank improved its inflation forecast for 2024.
