Haluk Bayraktar said the plant will be completed within a year and will employ around 500 people.
About 500 people will work at Bayraktar’s drone production plant, currently under construction near Kiev. This was said by the CEO of the “parent” company Baykar, Haluk Bayraktar, on the sidelines of the World Arms Exhibition in Riyadh in a commentary to Reuters.
“Our plant is under construction… we need about 12 months to complete the construction, and then we will move to the internal machinery, equipment and organizational structure. The plant in Ukraine will be large, we plan to use of about 500 people,” the official said.
According to him, the capacity of the plant will reach 120 units of drones annually. However, it is still unclear whether production at the Ukrainian plant will focus on the TB2 or TB3 drone model.
He also responded to a question about whether security concerns amid the war could raise concerns about the plant’s future. In particular, Baykar’s CEO responded that the plans are “fully moving forward and… nothing can stop them.”
In August 2022, it was reported that the construction of a Bayraktar drone production plant in Ukraine was in the preparatory stage. The plant project itself was developed and a plot of land was purchased.
Bayraktar also announced the timing of the launch of a drone production plant in Ukraine and added that it will produce Bayraktar TB2 and Akinci devices.
After the news about the construction of such a plant, the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, threatened that the Russian military would destroy it.
