Ukraine will soon experience an increase in the capacity of the European defense-industrial complex, Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said.
The European Union plans to provide Ukraine with 1 million 155 thousand artillery shells by the end of this year thanks to the growth of the military-industrial complex (DIC) of the member countries. EU High Representative Josep Borrell said this at a briefing with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal in Kyiv on Wednesday, February 7.
“The EU defense-industrial complex continues to grow: it can already be noted that its capacity has increased by 40%. I can also give a fairly specific figure about ammunition (for Ukraine – ed.): in end of this year we expect 1 million 155 thousand,” said Borrell.
In this regard, Shmygal assured that Ukraine will soon feel the growth in the capacity of the European defense-industrial complex.
“Europe is waking up from a “sleepy siesta”. The European defense-industrial complex is increasing its capacity, and I’m sure we will feel it soon. We discussed it with Don Borrell today,” he said and added that the acceleration of the supply of shells to Ukraine – one of the main priorities.
Earlier it became known that the defense industry of Ukraine will be integrated into the defense industry of the European Union. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said this.
