Supporting the return of veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to civilian life and their integration into the labor market is a common task of the state and business. Its successful solution will influence the speed of economic renewal of Ukraine. This issue was discussed on Thursday, January 25, by Deputy Minister of Economy Tatyana Berezhnaya and representatives of leading employers in the country, such as DTEK, Ukrainergo, Ukrposhta and MHP.

Berezhnaya noted that the majority of Ukrainian defenders are people with an active lifestyle, unique experience, knowledge and skills they gained in the war.
“After demobilization, each of them must have the opportunity to realize themselves in a peaceful life. The task of the state is to create tools to meet these needs. Therefore, care and trust during the demobilization requires the combined efforts of business and the state with a realistic understanding of the scale of the challenge,” said the official.
According to him, the budget for 2024 provides almost 14 billion hryvnias in support of veterans, which is twice as much as last year. Funds are also earmarked for the implementation of government programs to help our defenders adapt after being wounded at the front.
In this regard, representatives of the largest employers in the country shared their accumulated experience in working with veterans and outlined the important areas that the entire country needs to work on.
DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk said the company has 10 years of experience working with veterans. In his opinion, it is the duty of the state, business and every Ukrainian to do everything possible to ensure that veterans have the opportunity to return to civilian life as soon as possible.
“Our program to support veterans in DTEK businesses today consists of psychological support, adaptation assistance with the support of counselors, retraining, additional medical support for the wounded and a health and rehabilitation program. We are ready share our experience and expertise, as well as participate in the development of a national platform that will be the foundation for comprehensive and comprehensive support and assistance to our veterans,” said Sakharuk and added that nearly 4,500 DTEK employees defend the Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The day before it became known that Ukraine will apply the experience of the United States in the development of adaptation programs for veterans. In particular, the adaptation experience of Americans who fought in Vietnam will be considered.
