The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has added the American-Swedish industrial company Elektriska Svetsnings-Aktiebolaget (ESAB) to its list of international war sponsors. The NAPC press service reported this on Thursday, January 25.
It is noted that the world leader in the production of welding equipment and materials initially remains in the Russian Federation, maintains factories there and supplies goods through the Russian public procurement system. Gazprom.
The company has been operating in Russia for more than 20 years and has already created more than 6,000 jobs there. ESAB has more than 150 distributors represented in all federal districts of the Russian Federation, and also has two factories and a technology center in Russia that develops technologies, trains and demonstrates equipment.
As part of the Russian import substitution program, at these plants the companies produce Russian and ESAB-branded welding materials, as well as electrodes, wires and fluxes. In this way, the company helps the Russian Federation cope with the consequences of the sanctions imposed on it, and also ensures the technological capabilities of the aggressor country.
In June 2022, ESAB officially announced the continuation of work in Russia. In 2023, the company also continued to present and announce new high-tech welding equipment of its own production in Russia.

From February 24, 2022 to October 2023, the company imported goods worth more than $60 million to Russia. Among them: materials, equipment, spare parts and tools for welding from Germany, China, Hungary, South Korea, Vietnam, Sweden, Austria, India, Turkey.
In the Russian domestic market, products under the ESAB brand continue to be supplied through the government procurement system. Buyers of products are companies in the fuel and energy complex of the Russian Federation: Gazprom Methanol, Gazprom Transgaz Grozny etc.
