The country’s government has set a goal of increasing passenger traffic to 300 million and increasing the number of airports to 200 by 2030.

India has become the world’s third largest buyer of aircraft after the United States and China. This was announced by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiradthiya Madhavrao Scindia, reports The Economic Times.

Indian authorities plan to increase air passenger traffic to 300 million and increase the number of airports in the country to 200 by 2030.

“Solving this problem contributes to our growth in purchases of civil aircraft. According to this indicator, India has taken third place in the world,” said the minister.

By 2023, India’s flagship carrier Air India has placed an order for 540 aircraft with Boeing and Airbus.

IndiGo has placed orders for nearly 500 aircraft manufactured by Boeing and Airbus. Newly created Indian airline Akasa has ordered 240 aircraft from foreign aircraft manufacturers.

Let’s remember that India had earlier announced the first mission to study the Sun. In October 2023, India launched a rocket for the first time as part of the Gaganyaan orbital mission. We are still talking about unmanned tests.
