This will allow thermal generation and the country’s energy system to more reliably weather winter and peak electricity consumption.
DTEK Energy has agreed to import an additional 80 thousand tons of thermal coal from Poland. His press service reported this on Monday, January 15.
The total amount of fuel contracted by the company increased to 357 thousand tons. About 182 thousand tons of coal have already been delivered to Ukraine. Deliveries continue.
The company noted that this will allow thermal generation and the country’s energy system to more reliably cope with winter and electricity consumption peaks.
“Imported fuel is an additional safety net for thermal generation for the winter. Our priority is still production in Ukrainian mines. According to preliminary data, our investments in Ukrainian mines last year were amounted to about 7 billion Hryvnia,” said CEO of DTEK Energy Ildar Saleev.
According to him, the company commissioned 26 new coal faces, fulfilled the annual coal production plan and supplied its thermal power plants with the necessary fuel.
We remind you that in 2023, DTEK Energy spent about 11 billion hryvnias on a repair campaign in thermal power plants and coal production in mines. This will almost double the number in 2022.
It was also reported that in December, DTEK energy companies connected 463 thousand consumers after the Russian shelling.
