In the case of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv (OASC), the defense lawyer did not appear because he took the children to the water park.

On January 15, the Supreme Anticorruption Court was supposed to continue to hear the opinions of the participants in the OASC case regarding the petition to close the proceedings. However, the defender of the accused judge Igor Pogrebnichenko did not appear again.
We are talking about lawyer Lapshin, writes the Anti-Corruption Center (ACC).
As it became known during the hearing, the defense attorney allegedly does not have the opportunity to participate in the court hearing, including via video link.
All because the lawyer takes the children to the water park. Since he was the only one who did not speak on the motions to suppress, the meeting essentially lasted only 20 minutes.
The presiding judge, Viktor Nogachevsky, said that at the next court hearing they will initiate issues of bringing this defender to justice.
The Civil Procedure Code says that this is not the first failure of the defense attorney to appear, and therefore the court has already contacted the Free Legal Aid Center to monitor the quality of the services it provides.
In addition to Pogrebnichenko’s defense lawyer, judge Pavel Vovk also did not appear. In the request for adjournment, his lawyer noted that Vovk was allegedly on sick leave.
The judge noted that he does not see any abuse in his actions, since this is the first time he has been absent since the moment when a reason was applied to him.
The accused Judge Ablov was also not noticed in the hall. We assume that the judge is absent because of the story with his son Ivan, suspected of murder. The latter, by the way, was taken into custody today without the right to bail.
The systematic failure of participants to appear in this case is already an established practice: some of the accused OASC judges or their defense attorneys are constantly and alternately ill, on vacation, or find other reasons to miss the hearing.
The Civil Procedure Code noted that the preparatory meeting on this case has been going on for a year and a half.
