The number of individual entrepreneurs registered in 2023 exceeded the corresponding figure for 2021, the number of registered companies was lower than in 2021.
In 2023, more than 304 thousand new individual entrepreneurs and 37 thousand new companies will be registered in Ukraine. The platform reports this Opendatabot.
On December 29, 304,048 new individual entrepreneurs were registered, which is 7% more than in 2021, that is, before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
The most popular areas of new sole proprietorships last year were:

IT;
-
provision of other individual services;

wholesale;
-
food and beverage serving activities.
Among new individual entrepreneurs providing individual services, the largest number is hairdressing and beauty salons – 18,059.
The leaders in the number of new registrations of individual entrepreneurs are Kyiv – 14.18% of new cases, Dnepropetrovsk region – 8.97% and Lviv region – 7.73%, but analysts note that the place of business registration may differ from the actual area of activity.
In 2023, 37,297 new companies opened, which is a third less than in 2021 (56,267 new businesses were registered then).
The most popular areas of new companies are wholesale trade, the activities of public organizations and the provision of social assistance.
More new companies, such as individual entrepreneurs, were registered in Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk and Lvov regions in 2023; these regions account for almost half of the registrations of new businesses.
