Timely payment of pensions and benefits this year will be one of the state’s priorities, the prime minister assured.
The Government of Ukraine will ensure the timely payment of pensions and benefits this year. Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal announced this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, January 3.
The head of government noted that last year the state showed exemplary fulfillment of social obligations. In the structure of consolidated budget expenditures, social payments accounted for more than 12%.
“This year, this will be one of our priorities. We will pay pensions and benefits on time. We have internal resources, as well as support from our partners,” assured Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister recalled that since January 1, 2024, many social standards have been updated in Ukraine, including the minimum wage and subsistence level.
“The minimum wage has increased by 6%: from 6,700 hryvnia to 7,100 hryvnia. Another increase is planned for the spring. The cost of living has increased, on average, by 12%, to 2,920 hryvnia. The minimum pension in Ukraine increased from 2,093 hryvnia to UAH 2,361. Plans include indexation of pensions from March 1,” Shmyhal recalled.
Let’s recall that earlier the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich suggested that in the absence of international financial assistance, the indexation of pensions in 2024 may not take place.
