The National Bank increased the dollar exchange rate on December 29. Foreign currencies rose to a new high.
The National Bank of Ukraine sharply increased the dollar exchange rate on the last working day of 2023 – Friday, December 29. The dollar rose in price to a new historic high, according to the regulator’s website.
The official exchange rate on December 29 is set at the following level: 37.9824 UAH. for 1 dollar (+0.3630 UAH). The euro exchange rate will be 42.2079 UAH per 1 euro (+0.5745 UAH). This is a historical maximum.
In the cash market, in the morning the rate increased by 30 kopecks to 38.40 UAH/dollar, and in the afternoon it increased to 38.80 UAH/dollar.
Thus, the official dollar exchange rate has increased by 4.4% since the beginning of December from 36.38 to 37.62 UAH/dollar and records are updated almost daily.
Let’s recall that earlier the National Bank explained that the weakening of the hryvnia in December was due to an increase in demand for foreign currency. The exchange rate of the Hryvnia should change in both directions, the National Bank smooths these changes, said the Deputy Head of the NBU Sergei Nikolaychuk.
