Ukraine received $5 billion in financial aid in December

Grant funds awarded on non-repayable terms amount to 11% of total financial aid.

In December, Ukraine received $5 billion in external financing, of which 11% were grant funds provided on non-repayable terms. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, December 27.

“US$5 billion of external funding entered the general fund of the State Budget of Ukraine in December 2023. Grant funds provided on non-repayable terms accounted for 11% of total financial assistance,” said department.

Funds raised in December came from:

  • Japan – $2.2 billion (concessional financing and grants);

  • EU – $1.6 billion (concessional financing);

  • IMF – approximately $900 million (concessional financing);

  • Norway – $190 million (grant);

  • Germany – $55 million (grant);

  • USA – $50 million (grant);

  • Switzerland – $20 million (grant);

  • World Bank – $8 million (concessional financing).

The raised aid is used to finance priority social expenditures of the state budget, in particular, ensuring wages for workers in the education and health sectors, human needs, as well as ensuring social protection of the population.

Let’s remember that the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko warned that there is a possibility that the payment of salaries and pensions of civil servants to millions of Ukrainians will be delayed if the EU and the US do not provide the promised assistance financial the next day. year.

As you know, Republicans in the US Senate have not come to an agreement with the White House on changes to the immigration law to which the aid package to Ukraine is tied. The conclusion of the agreement was postponed until January.
