The moratorium on tariff increases for some utilities will remain until 2025. Then there will be gradual increases.
The National Bank of Ukraine predicts an increase in the cost of utility services. In particular, for gas, hot water and heating. However, this will not happen before 2025, according to experts at the National Bank.
Refusing to raise tariffs for such a period will help curb inflation.
“It will be prevented by a moratorium on the increase of tariffs for gas, hot water and heat supply. According to the assumptions of this forecast, it will be removed only in 2025,” said the NBU.
There will not be a sharp increase in prices – tariffs will increase in several stages. This process will be accompanied by increased support for the population with subsidies.
“Despite the necessary need to eliminate imbalances in the energy sector, it is expected that further government decisions to bring utility tariffs to market levels will take into account the high social importance of tariffs. Therefore , it is expected that their increase will be gradual and will be accompanied by an increase in support for the population with subsidies, “- explained to the National Bank.
From November 2022 to November 2023, utility tariffs in Ukraine increased by 13%. At the same time, electricity prices immediately increased by 69.7%.
Rates for garbage collection increased significantly – by 8.7%. Housing maintenance and repair increased by 3.9%. Prices for management services for apartment buildings increased by 2.7%. Water supply prices increased by 0.8%; sewage – by 0.7%.
Let’s remember that according to the survey, the majority of Ukrainians (60%) felt that their own economic situation worsened in the last six months, 35% felt that it did not change, and only 5% felt that it improved .
