The work of the sea corridor made it possible to partially compensate for the economic losses as a result of the blocking of the Polish-Ukrainian border.
At the end of November, economic growth in Ukraine slowed to 4.0 (±2%) compared to 10.5% in October. The Ministry of Economy announced this on Wednesday, December 20.

“As a result, for January-November 2023, economic growth is estimated at 5.5% compared to the corresponding period last year,” the report said.
It is indicated that in November, almost a month-long blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border by Polish road carriers was the main negative factor for the export of manufacturers and manufacturers dependent on imported raw materials for the delivery of goods by road.
At the same time, the work of the Ukrainian sea corridor made it possible to partially compensate for the economic losses as a result of the blocking of the Polish-Ukrainian border. First of all, manufacturers of agricultural and metallurgical products, metal ore mining enterprises and rail carriers took advantage of it.
“According to our assessment, the positive factors in November somewhat exceeded the balance of influence on GDP and as a result, according to the preliminary operational assessment of the Ministry of Economy, GDP growth was observed at the level of 4%,” the Ministry of Economy added.
It was previously known that in the third quarter of this year, the decrease in GDP of Ukraine was recorded by more than 10% compared to the second quarter. This is confirmed by the operational data of the State Statistics Service.
In turn, the National Bank expects GDP growth to be 4.9% by the end of 2023. At the end of October, the regulator improved its macro forecast for 2023 for the third time.
