Unbeknownst to his boss, he transferred part of the money received from the daily sale of water to sports bets in one of the gambling centers.
A resident of the Nigerian city of Bariga has been accused of stealing money from his company and losing the bet. Naija News writes about it.
It was noted that 26-year-old Samuel Meyiwa is a driver of Freedom Pure Water Company. He is responsible for the delivery and sale of drinking water.
However, it later emerged that Meyiwa, without the knowledge of his boss, redirected part of the money received from the daily sale of water to sports bets in one of the gambling centers. Samuel told his superiors that the clients were borrowing water, but in reality he received the full amount and used it for personal gambling purposes.
When it was no longer possible for the water carrier to hide his crimes, he fled with a truckload of water worth N300,000 (about $380). After all the goods were delivered, Meyiwa used the proceeds again for bets, and never returned to his old job.
Law enforcement agencies found the violator as an employee of another company. Meyiwa appeared in court and now faces a prison sentence. The judge, however, allowed Samuel to be released on bail, demanding the sum of N100,000 and two reliable sureties to furnish the same amount.
We remind you that a state standard for the rehabilitation of gambling addicts will appear in Ukraine.
