A Newport woman won a $50,000 prize when her husband mistakenly bought her the wrong lottery ticket.
A woman won a $50,000 lottery jackpot because her husband accidentally bought the wrong ticket. This was reported by UPI.
An American woman named Tanya Hammonds from Newport told lottery officials that she asked a man to buy scratch-off tickets, but he accidentally brought home the wrong thing she wanted. But the mistake turned out to be fun.
“Before I scrapped the numbers, I broke the barcode and scanned it. I saw $50,000 and thought the program wasn’t working,” he said.
He decided to double-check and found that the winning numbers on the ticket matched, and the total prize was $50,000.
The winner said the first thing he did was take a photo of the ticket and send it to his mother.
Hammonds did not say whether he has any immediate plans for his winnings.
It was previously reported that in Australia, a man found out on a regular workday that he became $15 million richer.
