On June 6, 2023, Energoatom revoked the license of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (DIYARU) for long-term operation of power unit No. 1 of the Pivdennoukrainian Nuclear Power Plant.
The certificate was presented to the President of the Company, Petr Kotin, and the General Director of Pivdennoukrainian AES, Igor Polovic. Head of Regulation – Chief State Inspector of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine Oleg Korikov.
Petro Kotin said that “removing the license to continue operating the power unit without any work is a great victory for Energoatom and for the Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant team. This is the right cliff.” He spoke with the entire Energoatom team, who reported as much as possible to get the document back, as well as with DIYAR representatives, who worked closely with the nuclear workers.
The license entitles the safe operation of power unit No. 1 of PAES at design levels for 10 years – up to 2033 years.
Igor Poloovich noted that the removal of the license for long-term operation of the first power unit makes it possible for at least 10 years to work stably and safely for the benefit of the state.
“For us, this is a very important task, even if we can improve the energy front. The remnants of the nuclear generation itself will provide more than half of the electricity, so our team, who worked on everything immediately and when early, or revoke the license now, will provide the Ukrainian communities with light and heat for the stones will come. ,” added the President of NAEC.
Oleg Korikov recognized the meticulous and consistent work of the teams of DP “NAEK “Energoatom”, the Pivdennoukrainian Nuclear Power Plant, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the Owner of the Regulation and Experts of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear Power radiation safety.
At the end of the day the work was completed and the term of operation of the power unit No. 1 of PAES is extended, a low level of entry is carried out:
– assessment of technical equipment;
– continuation of the term of operation of the necessary structures, systems and elements;
– advanced qualifications and assurance of seismic resistance;
– carrying out modernization and technical re-equipment.
Earlier, at the fall of the leaves, at the meeting of the Board of Controllers, a decision was made about the possibility of extending the long-term safe operation of power unit No. 1 of Pivdenny Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant another 10 years – up to 20 years. 33.
To conclude: in the preparation of the power unit to the new stage of operation, the specialists from the reliability service, resource and operation continuity service, safety evaluation service, metal control service, and specialists from main department of PAES is an active part.
