The National Bank will tighten its efforts to protect the critical infrastructure of the financial sector.
The National Bank of Ukraine updated its organizational structure and created a Directorate for Critical Infrastructure Protection. This was reported by the press service of the NBU.
According to the law on critical infrastructure, the National Bank must ensure the fulfillment of the tasks and functions of the subject of the national system for the protection of critical infrastructure, the sectoral body in the field of protection of critical infrastructure and the operator of critical infrastructure.

In the past, part of the duties of protecting critical infrastructure were performed by the NBU Security Department. At the same time, taking into account the expansion of functions for the protection of critical infrastructures in the financial sector and to increase the efficiency of performing relevant tasks in this area, the National Bank created a separate that department in its structure.
The Department for Critical Infrastructure Protection of the NBU will ensure the development and implementation of the National Bank’s state policy in the field of protection of critical infrastructures and perform the duties assigned to the National Bank by law.
The Department for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure is part of the subordination vertical Payment Systems and Monetary Circulation, the general management of which is carried out by the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Alexey Shaban.
The creation of an independent specialized department will help ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure facilities in the financial sector, effective protection against threats and the uninterrupted provision of financial services to the population.
Let’s recall that in October, President Vladimir Zelensky implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to protect and ensure the safety of the functioning of critical infrastructure and energy facilities in the context of military operations.
