Ukraine can become Europe’s superpower in renewable energy, says the Vice-President of the European Commission.
The Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic highly praised the development of green energy in Ukraine and especially noted the contribution of DTEK in ensuring the green transition. He said this during a panel discussion at the UN Climate Summit COP28.
“I visited Ukraine often before the war started, and I told you that you can become the superpower of Europe. You can become the superpower of Europe in renewable energy, green hydrogen. This is because you have all the necessary ingredients in your country to become a very important player in the field of future-oriented technologies,” said Šefčović.
DTEK General Director Maxim Timchenko thanked the EC Vice-President for recognizing DTEK’s contribution to ensuring a green transition in the context of the construction of the Tiligul wind farm.
Let’s recall that on December 4, at the UN climate conference COP28 in Dubai, the DTEK group and the Vestas company signed a memorandum providing for the completion of the construction of the largest power plant in Eastern Europe – the Tiligul wind farm in Nikolaev region.
The total investment in the project exceeds 650 million euros, and the installed capacity of the station will be 500 MW.
The first stage of the Tiligul wind farm in the Nikolaev region with 19 turbines with a capacity of 114 MW was implemented in May 2023.
