G7 countries decide to ban Russian diamonds – Reuters

The G7 countries will introduce a ban on diamonds from Russia from January 1, 2024. This is reported by Reuters.

The G7 will also introduce a phased ban on imports of Russian diamonds from third countries from around March 1, and will also create a “robust verification and certification mechanism” for rough that diamond on September 1.

It is reported that the ban does not apply to industrial diamonds.

The statement also indicates that the G7 countries will work to further limit Russia’s use of the international financial system.

It was previously reported that about fifty Russian companies specializing in the mining, processing and sale of diamonds may fall under Western sanctions. A number of Russian companies were mentioned in Ukraine’s proposal to partner states.
