Taxation of excess profits of banks based on the results of 2023 will be carried out at a rate of 50%.

President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on additional temporary taxation of banks. This was announced by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danilo Getmantsev, on Telegram on Wednesday, December 6.

“The law provides: taxation of excess profits of banks based on the results of 2023 will be carried out at a rate of 50%, and starting from 2024, the base rate of income tax for banks will be 25% ,” the message said.

Getmantsev recalled that the law extended the period of exemption for free import into the customs territory of Ukraine of drones and their spare parts, which are very necessary for our army.

Let’s remember that in November the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on the taxation of banks, which increased the tax on profit from 18% to 50% by the end of this year. According to the Ministry of Finance, in 2023 it will bring 24-25 billion Hryvnia.

We remind you that in January-September, Ukrainian banks received 110 billion Hryvnia in profit. This is an absolute record.
