The co-owner of the company Nikolaus Wilhelm Knauf for 23 years (from February 1999 to March 2022) had the status of honorary consul of the Russian Federation, with a representative office endowed with the powers of an honorary consulate in Nuremberg .
After the entire Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company officially clarified that it saw no reason to leave the market of the aggressor country.

Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), one of the largest diamond manufacturing and exporting companies in the world, was also included in the list of international sponsors of the war.
