A large-scale repair campaign at the nuclear power units, which lasted several months, was completed before the onset of winter.
In Ukraine, the planned repair of the last ninth block of nuclear power plants was completed. Now all power units located in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities are operating at full capacity, the Ministry of Energy reported on Monday, November 20.

It is indicated that a large-scale repair campaign at the nuclear power plant, which lasted several months, was completed before the onset of winter. And this is very important, because it is nuclear generation that provides more than 55% of Ukraine’s electricity needs.
“This is the most preserved and stable generation, which made it possible for our energy system to survive last winter. And I am sure that this will be the case this heating season,” said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
Also, Energoatom specialists, together with the Westinghouse company, have done everything possible to ensure that the VVER 440 nuclear unit, which previously used Russian fuel, is now operating this year on fuel produced at the company’s plant in Sweden.
“We not only completed the settlement on time, but also ended Russia’s monopoly in this segment of the nuclear fuel market,” added the minister.
We remind you that on October 11, the eighth unit of the nuclear power plant in Ukraine came out of repair ahead of schedule. This added an additional 415 MW to the grid. The total capacity of nuclear generation was 6815 MW.
