Several media outlets and Telegram channels have spread false information about the alleged increase in electricity bills for the population from January 1, 2024.
In Ukraine there will be no increase in electricity prices for the population from January 1, 2024. This statement was published by the Ministry of Energy on Friday, November 17.
“The Ministry of Energy officially reports that the increase in tariffs for the population is not yet expected,” the statement said.
The department noted that today a number of media outlets and Telegram channels spread false information about the alleged increase in electricity tariffs for the population from January 1, 2024, referencing their messages to a interview with the head of NEURC Konstantin Ushchapovsky.
“However, the speaker himself did not make such statements in his interview. NEURC publicly denied the information contained in the press reports,” said the Ministry of Energy.
The Ministry of Energy also states that a cunning and powerful enemy is waging war against Ukraine. This confrontation is happening everywhere: on the battlefield, in the economy, in the energy sector, in the information space. Therefore, as the ministry notes, false information about power outages, the non-preparation of the energy system for the winter, or about tariff increases has been continuously disseminated by the Russians in our information space.
“Their goal is to sow fear, panic, reduce public faith in Victory and, as a result, weaken the entire country and our ability to fight the enemy. So Ukrainian journalists who play with the “Russian IPSO is not acceptable. Therefore, we again ask you to be vigilant and not help the actions of the enemy in the information space,” said the statement.
We remind you that Ushchapovsky predicted that in 2024 the electricity tariff for the population may increase by 15% – up to 3 Hryvnia per kilowatt-hour. At the same time, he noted that the current market tariff for electricity is about 5.5-5.8 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour without VAT.
As you know, from June 1, the Cabinet of Ministers raised electricity tariffs for the population to 2.64 UAH/kWh. And on June 30, the price of electricity for business increased significantly in Ukraine.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko called this step forced and linked it to the preparation of the Ukrainian energy system for the coming winter.
