The main requirement of carriers remains unchanged – a return to the permit system for Ukraine.
Polish transporters rejected the common proposals of the European Commission, Ukraine and Poland and refused to stop blocking the border. This was announced by the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine on Thursday, November 16.
It was indicated that yesterday representatives of the department, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland and the European Commission Directorate for Transport and Mobility, held negotiations at the Dorogusk checkpoint.
“As a result of the negotiations, the parties developed joint solutions and proposed them to the protesters in Poland. The latest proposals were not agreed upon,” the statement said.
It was noted that the main demand of the protesters was the return of the permit system for Ukraine. But this request cannot be met, as the Ukrainian side said, and the European Commission Directorate emphasized that such an issue cannot be the subject of this meeting. The agreement on the liberalization of cargo transport between Ukraine and the EU will be valid until June 30 next year.
As you know, on November 6, a strike by Polish carriers began on the Polish-Ukrainian border. In just a few days, the queues were tens of kilometers long, containing thousands of trucks.
Today the media reported that Poland is facing sanctions from the EU for blocking the borders of Ukraine.
